The planned settlement is committed to sustainability in various respects. In addition to thoughts on social and cultural sustainability, the aspects of ecological sustainability play a decisive role in the redevelopment of the factory site.
From an environmental point of view, three aspects are crucial: the manufacturing energy of the building products, the energy consumption of the building during operation and the disposal of the building materials in the distant future. The entire life cycle of the settlement is crucial, from manufacturing to operation and disposal.
By choosing sustainable and natural building materials such as straw, wood, clay and lime, the settlement does justice to all these aspects. The settlement should give the residents a lot of pleasure in the distant future as well, without living at the expense of nature.
Die geplante Siedlung verschreibt sich in verschiedener Hinsicht der Nachhaltigkeit. Neben Gedanken zur sozialen und kulturellen Nachhaltigkeit, spielen die Aspekte der ökologischen Nachhaltigkeit eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Neuentwicklung des Fabrikareals.
Aus Sicht der Umwelt sind dabei drei Aspekte entscheidend: die Herstellungsenergie der Bauprodukte, der Energieverbrauch des Gebäudes im Betrieb und die Entsorgung der Baumaterialien in ferner Zukunft. Der gesamte Lebenszyklus der Siedlung ist entscheidend, von der Herstellung über den Betrieb bis hin zur Entsorgung.
Mit der Wahl nachhaltiger und natürlicher Baumaterialien wie Stroh, Holz, Lehm und Kalk, wird die Siedlung all diesen Aspekten gerecht. Die Siedlung soll den Bewohnern auch in ferner Zukunft viel Freude bereiten, ohne dabei auf Kosten der Natur zu leben.
