Written by esba

The European Straw Building Association (ESBA) is delighted to announce the International Straw Building Conference 2027, taking place from 2nd–6th February 2027 at the National School of Architecture in Nantes, France.

Hosted by the French Straw Building Association (RFCP), the event will bring together practitioners, researchers, manufacturers, policymakers, educators, clients and industry leaders from around the world for five days dedicated to the future of straw construction and biobased building systems.

The week combines RFCP’s 3rd Professional Convention on Straw-Based Retrofit and Renovation with an international programme of presentations, discussions, case studies, technical exchanges and site visits. Delegates will have the opportunity to explore some of the most significant developments in straw construction, from retrofit and renovation to industrialised systems, large-scale delivery, policy, standards, carbon accounting and the wider bioeconomy.

Programme highlights include:

  • 1 day of visits to local straw building projects

  • 2 days focused on retrofit and renovation

  • 2 days of international exchange and collaboration

More than a conference, this event will provide a unique opportunity to strengthen international relationships, share lessons learned across continents and accelerate the transition towards healthier, lower-carbon and more regenerative forms of construction.

Further programme details, speakers, sponsorship opportunities and registration information will be announced in the coming months.

Save the date: 2nd–6th February 2027, Nantes, France.
