Load-bearing straw walls: implementation and behaviour

Load-bearing straw walls: implementation and behaviour
Written by esba

Load bearing straw bale is a construction technique that has existed for more than a century but has been little investigated regarding the processes of implementation, the evaluation of mechanical performance or fire resistance. During final year projects carried out by the students of the IUT of Nîmes, improvements in the implementation process were experimented and mechanical tests were carried out. We present here the results obtained, the first elements to qualify the straw as an ecological, viable and sustainable constructive solution.
