Sanierung und Erweiterung des Föhrenhofs. Das Projekt erhielt die Auszeichnung “Energieprofi 2004”. Im Jahr 2012 brannte es nieder.

In 2012, the building burned down. We learned a lot from the report of the Landesstelle für Brandverhütung in der Steiermark: “The entire single-family house was supplied with wood-fired central heating. In addition, a wood-fired single stove “Swedish stove” was installed in the living room in autumn 2011. Based on the photos provided to the fire brigade by the emergency services, in particular the information provided by the air rescue service, as well as the discovery of the fire, it is assumed that the fire started in the area of the single stove or the outdoor smoke flue….. According to the owners, the single stove (Swedish stove) was heated on the day of the fire at about 10:00 am. The fire was discovered at about 12:45 pm. On the basis of the photos provided by the fire brigade and the reconstruction of the solid fuel stove installed in the living room, the point of origin of the fire was clearly determined to be in the area of the wall duct. Due to the time sequence between the start-up of the single stove at about 10:00 a.m. and the discovery of the fire at about 12:45 p.m., it can be assumed that the straw inside the outer wall ignited due to the heat radiation of the connecting piece. The straw in the vicinity of the connector had probably been continuously heated during the heating period since autumn 2011 and had reached a pyrophoric state. This reduces the ignition temperature until the combustible material (straw) ignites…. From the point of view of fire protection, it is noted that it was probably an impermissible passage of smoke gas through both the timber frame wall and, in particular, the straw-insulated outer wall.”
