More about this Straw Bale House

Here, the Styrian company Stroh & Lehm (Robert Knapp and Virko Kade) has erected an interesting construction: A load-bearing timber frame construction is planked with structurally stiffening OSB boards, window and door boxes are also made of OSB boards (picture above). Then the straw bales are placed in front on the outside, compacted as in load-bearing straw bale construction, fastened with façade anchors and plastered directly (pictures below). The floor slab on a strip foundation was also insulated with straw bales.
