After developing 3 prototypes for urban 3-5 storey straw bale buildings, the FFG-project SmartCity Demo goes on tour through Austria, Linz (Sept. 2018), Inssbruck (November 2018), Graz (spring 2019) and Vienna (summer 2019), building prefabricated 2-5-storey straw bale houses as demonstration projects with the participation of students and future owners. The skeleton is made of wood, the walls and ceilings are prefabricated with wood and straw bales. The astonishing price/m2 living area lies under the price for social living flats in Austria.
