The pillars are generously supported in all four directions to avoid any deformation. On average, 4 people took 20 days to build these pillars. This technique does not require a great deal of physical strength since the clods of earth do not exceed 2 to 3kg. It is estimated that the drying time of the bauge before removal of the formwork and loading is 3 to 5 months (depending on the season). It should be noted that all the loads taken up by the pillars remain well below their resistance limit (total load of approximately 12 t/m2 for a maximum resistance of 200t/m2 according to the Craterre laboratory). The rest of the work (roof, straw walls, etc…) is carried out using regulated techniques.
