What’s New?
This year’s event will be interactive, focusing on transversal issues in straw bale building rather than individual project presentations. Here’s how you can actively participate:
- Talks: Discuss topics like testing, new building details, new testing, and investigation and results from existing structures.
- Meet the Project Makers: A dedicated space for showcasing innovative projects.
- Open Space: Share your own topics of interest or suggest discussions, either in advance or spontaneously.
Event Details
- Registration: Opens Spring 2025. Prices will likely be similar to past events, possibly even lower with funding.
- Accommodations: Plenty of options, including camping, hotels, and Airbnbs. Book early! We’re negotiating discounts for camping sites, but may not have details until spring.
- Website: Launching by the end of the year or beginning of 2025.

- Thursday, September 18:
- ESBA Day (ESBA members only in the morning)
- Country Presentations (all ticket holders welcome in the afternoon)
- Friday, September 19: Wrapping & Retrofitting
- Morning: Talks and roundtable on using straw insulation (entire bales or loose straw) for renovation and new builds.
- Afternoon:
- Product and Services Fair (unconfirmed; contact us if interested)
- Workshops (let us know if you’d like to offer one!)
- Open Space for dynamic discussions.
- Saturday, September 20: Load Bearing Construction
- Morning: Presentations on various, including Nebraska-style small bale construction, Nebraska style jumbo bale building (contact us if you want to present), and load-bearing CUT technique.
- Afternoon:
- Continuation of the Fair and workshops.
- Meet the Project Makers space for showcasing projects and networking.
- Saturday Evening: Join the 1st ESBG Straw Bale Olympics—fun and games to connect with fellow attendees!
- Sunday, September 21: Bus tours of local straw bale homes.

- Share Your Passion: We invite you to create a short video (1 minute max) on why you build with straw bales. Your story can inspire others. Submission details coming soon!
