Together with partners in Chile, researchers at the Fraunhofer WKI have developed insulating materials from plant residues. Largely unused plant “waste” that accumulates in the Chilean agricultural, forestry or timber industry can thus be put to good use. The use of insulating materials from local raw materials contributes to an improvement in the environmental balance of the construction industry in Chile and opens up new, previously unused value creation opportunities.
Insulation materials made from renewable raw materials are to improve the environmental balance of the Chilean building sector and contribute to global climate and resource protection; example here: flexible insulation mats made from wheat straw.
