An unusual combination of recycled telegraph poles holding up the first floor joists in an otherwise loadbearing 2 storey building, so a hybrid. Designed by amazonails for the extreme weather of the Isle of Rousay, near Orkney, Scotland. The posts and straw walls are on foundations made of stone gabions – totally cement-free. This family home was built by the owners in 2009 and designed by amazonails.
