Ronald and Ila Salters’ home will be located in the former camping site De Messemaker in Cuijk. The architectural starting point of the house is a panel yurt, in which the straw-built walls form a ring that supports the roof. In this way a construction is created that does not require columns in the house.
From an urban planning point of view, they wanted the building to blend in with nature. This is done by bringing the green roof of the building to the ground on 2 sides, making it look like the ground is merging into the building.
The building is energetically oriented with a south facade on the south, so that optimal use is made of passive solar energy. In addition, solar collectors, solar cells, a heat exchanger and reuse of water are used to make this home as self-sufficient as possible.
