The starting point for all material choices was cost considerations, which turned out to be sustainable materials in most cases.
The load-bearing steel construction is self made in the sculpture workshop from second hand steel beams. The outer skin on the north and east side is made of straw bales, plastered on the inside and outside with about 6 cm earthplaster.
This covers approximately 3 / 5th of the facade surface. No vapor barrier, no cavity, so the outer skin is completely vapor-open, the outer clay remains dry under the spacious roof overhang.
On the west side, the opposite side, in addition to glass, Corten steel facade panels were chosen. The inner walls consist of earth bricks and plaster, both from a neighboring brick factory.
.Collectors on the roof and copper pipes at the rear of the stove lead preheated water to the solar boiler. An HR boiler as post-heating supplies the floor and wall heating.
The heating concept is based 100% on radiant heat.
